Disseny Hub Barcelona (DHUB) is a new center of Barcelona Culture Institute located in Glòries Catalanes square, number 37-38.
This center is dedicated to promote understanding and good use of the design world.
At the same time, the center acts like a museum and laboratory focusing their activities in 4 disciplines of the design world: Space Design, Product Design, Information Design and Dress Design.
The objective for this building is to be a meeting point for individuals and institutions involved in the design sector in all types for sharing information related to this world.
Therefore, the research and the economic activity in the design sector are stimulated.
Moreover, you can visit it in guided tours to understand all types of design inside the museum. Although, in this moment the museum is closed for move, it will open along 2014.
About de features of the building: is divided in two parts.
One part is subterraneous and the other part measure 14,50 m above ground level.
The permanent exhibitions that we can find in the museum are:
From de single object to product design: presents in a chronological tour the evolution from the art objects from the Romanesque period to Romanticism until the evolution of the product design from the Industrial Revolution.
The dress: the exposure analyzes the changes that the dress has been made in the human body.
The royal bedrooms: this exposure shows the chambers from Alfonso XIII and Victoria Eugenia.
The center also incorporates various activities of entertainment like conferences, workshops, educational services, courses and issuance of awards.
In all exhibitions emphasizes in Catalan culture and history, ‘cause to enhance Barcelona and our manners as well as over the years of design history in Catalunya.
