Admission ticket to the MNAC (National Museum of Art of Catalonia) is 12 euros and allows you to enter and stay in the rooms of its permanent exhibition as long as you like within the two following days. Furthermore, if you are a member of a large group of visitors or have got there by using the either the “Bus Turístic” or the Barcelona City Tour transport services, you will get discounts ranging from 20% to 30% off. On Saturdays, visitors arriving after 3:00pm get free admission, as well as those who go to MNAC on the first Sunday of the month.
Picasso Museum also has a relatively cheap admission fee: 6.60 euros to see the temporary exhibitions and 11 euros if you want to enter their permanent one. But you can also pay a lower fee wish to combine your admission ticket for both exhibitions, if you are under 29 or even visit free of charge after standing in line for a little while on a Sunday evening or the first Sunday of the month.
Immersing yourself in the history of Catalonia at the “Museu d’història de Catalunya” -just by the port known as “Port Vell” in beautiful Barcelona- will also cost you nothing if you visit on the first Sunday of the month. Its entering fee for the rest of the week is 4 euros.
If you wish to make the most of your stay in the city as far as enjoying art is concerned, consider purchasing combined or seasonal tickets like the one that allows you to enter both MACBA and Caixaforum for only 11 euros, or the “Articket”(www.articketbcn.org), which grants you admission to 6 different museums in Barcelona within a period of 3 months for only 30 euros.
Go to any Barcelona Tourism information office for further info on how to purchase your seasonal or combined tickets! As a side note, bear in mind that, just as it is the case with many European museums, all Barcelona museums offer free admission during the International Museum Day (18th May) as well as during some other major holidays.
